Ichetucknee Springs & River Cleanup Hosted by Current Problems - Volunteers Needed!

Join Current Problems at Ichetucknee Springs State Park on Saturday, May 16, 9:30 am to help Cathy Nagler catch up with the water lettuce.  Unfortunately, conditions have been good for water lettuce this winter, and it is getting ahead of Cathy’s efforts.  Come to the north entrance of the park.  From there we’ll paddle down to Slider Slough where the water lettuce will be waiting for us.  You can work directly from your kayak or canoe, although you can get out to cool off if you wish.  People can leave at any time, but you must check out with Cathy first to let her make sure the boat is clean and weed-free.  With a good number of us there, we can make a real dent in the population of the lettuce.

For the most part, volunteers will need to bring their own canoe or kayak.  Canoes are best, but kayaks are useful, too, so either is fine.  We may have a few, very few, canoes we can use that belong to the park.  I’ll update you  on details early next week.  Mark the date on your calendars for consideration.  We would surely like to see a good turnout for this water lettuce pull.  You can’t find a more beautiful place to spend a part or all of your Saturday!

Please let me know if you are coming by Thursday evening.  Hope you can make it!
