Springs Outing – Manatee Spring

Manatee Outing with Lindsey Pavao

January 13th at 9am-11am

Manatee Springs State Park: (11650 N.W. 115 St., Chiefland FL 32626)

On this outing, we will be joined by Alachua County Senior Environmental Specialist, Lindsey Pavao as we do a dive deep into one of Florida’s most beloved species, the Manatee. We will be walking the boardwalk that overlooks the spring to observe them as they find solstice in the cold water. Lindsey will be discussing a wide variety of topics such as their population, threats, biology, behaviors, and Alachua County’s Manatee Sighting Network. Instead of the usual Pub Sub lunch, we will be offering a few breakfast snacks (muffins, bananas, etc.) and coffee. This is the perfect outing for anyone that does not have access to watercraft, but is up for a walk through the cypress forest at Manatee Springs State Park!

*DISCLAIMER* It is not guaranteed that manatees will be seen on this outing. We will have supplemental materials to add to our discussion if no manatees are present.
