Springs Outing: Secrets of San Felasco Hammock
Join the Florida Springs Institute for a special venture off the beaten path in San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park!
On our next Springs Outing, reknowned cave diver Tom Morris and Florida State Park Biologist Rick Owen will guide us off the sanctioned trail system into some of the finest Mesic Hammock in Florida. We will hike through beautiful mature hardwood forest and see seepage slopes and streams, alluviated sinking points, and a rare stand of planer trees (Planera aquatica).
The two-mile round trip is an easy hike even though there are elevation changes. We will do lots of stopping, and plan to bring a bag lunch.
Attendance will be limited to 20 people to limit our group’s impact on the land. Tickets are sliding scale based on ability to pay; all options include the guided hike and state park entrance fee.
